Dear Kingdom Builders Grant Committee and those who gave towards the grant,

Thank you! I was overjoyed when I received the letter saying the InterVarsity at UCSD would be receiving money to go towards our new student outreach that happens in September. I brought the letter to our staff team and we praised God for His provision and it inspired our faith to move forward in our fund raising.

Next fall thousands of college freshmen will hit the UCSD campus and will enter into one of the most spiritually open months of their lives. Everything is up for grabs: their time, their values, their beliefs, their community, their identity. The decisions they make in the first month of school will impact the rest of their college career and possibly the rest of their life. InterVarsity will be there to welcome them to campus and introduce them to Jesus. More students come to faith that first week than the whole rest of the year combined.

We host a large scale outreach during the first week of school that reaches to all part of campus: the Greek students, the surfers, the transfer students, even international students. This gift has made a huge dent in the cost of an outreach that reaches over 2000 students and raises up 135 student leaders as witnesses.

Every year I talk to multiple students who tell me their first encounter with InterVarsity was at the free BBQ held during first week. 1200 students are fed a free burger and for many this is the welcome mat into a vibrant Christan community on campus. Thanks for making this all possible!

I have attached pictures from the outreach last year. A few stats from last year;

• 700 students attended the first large group gathering and 164 made significant decisions to follow Jesus.
• 130 student leaders were trained to have spiritual conversations on campus
• 700 students were fed free pizza at large group
• 1200 students received a free burger
• 20 some pastors and community members interceded on site during our first large group meeting.
